A PCIe 5.0 x4 slot has twice the bandwidth of a Gen 4 one. The SN8100 is built to fill it: that is why the read figures almost double the previous generation.

Ask FASE NUEVE ↗The SN8100 reaches up to 14,900 MB/s sequential read in an M.2 slot with PCIe 5.0 x4. Writes go up to 14,000 MB/s on the 2 and 4 TB models. These are the figures published by the official SanDisk sheet, measured in their lab.

A PCIe 5.0 x4 slot has twice the bandwidth of a Gen 4 one. The SN8100 is built to fill it: that is why the read figures almost double the previous generation.

The NAND is stacked on top of its own controller (CBA), with nCache 4.0. A shorter path for the data and less heat per written bit.
Modern games stream textures while you play. With a Gen 5 drive the system stops waiting for the disk. We do not promise FPS: frames come from your processor and graphics card, and change with every game.

From 1 TB to 8 TB, so you never again choose what to uninstall this month.

SanDisk Dashboard (Windows) turns game mode on when it detects you open a game, and watches the health of the drive.
High-resolution editing, audio layers, renders and AI models loaded from disk: all of them are large, sustained reads. That is where a Gen 5 drive shows, especially with the heatsink on.

Fast and efficient: the official sheet states an average power of 7.5 W or under, over 100% more efficient than the brand PCIe Gen 4 generation.

Up to 4,800 TBW of endurance on the 8 TB model, with 1.75 million hours MTTF and TCG Opal 2.02 encryption.
A Gen 5 SSD gets hot. If the temperature climbs too high it slows down to protect itself. That is why this model comes in two versions and the choice matters.

Anodised aluminium, low profile and configurable RGB light. According to SanDisk it holds performance up to 15 times longer than the bare version under heavy load. No fans, no extra cables.
For boards that already have their own M.2 heatsink (most current high-end ones) or for builds where nothing else fits.
If your board has an M.2 heatsink, buy the bare version. If it does not, buy the heatsink one.
Capacities do not all perform the same. These are the official figures for each one, so you choose with the data in front of you.
| 1 TB | Read 14,900 MB/s · write 11,000 MB/s · 1.6 M IOPS · 600 TBW |

| 2 TB | Read 14,900 MB/s · write 14,000 MB/s · 2.3 M IOPS · 1,200 TBW |

The SN8100 fits any M-key M.2 2280 slot. What changes is the speed you get and the free space it needs.
2280 form factor (80 mm). The most common size on desktop boards.
It works on Gen 4 or Gen 3, but the slot sets the speed.
With the heatsink it is 9.76 mm tall (11.25 mm on 8 TB). Check it does not clash with the graphics card.

If you still have a doubt, write to us before buying.
Yes. The SN8100 is backwards compatible with PCIe Gen4 and Gen3, but the slot sets the speed there: the up to 14,900 MB/s figures are only reached in an M.2 slot with PCIe 5.0 x4.
If your motherboard already has its own M.2 heatsink, the bare model fits better. If it does not, or the slot sits under the graphics card, the anodised aluminium heatsink model holds sustained performance much longer, according to the manufacturer sheet.
Without a heatsink it is 2.38 mm tall (3.88 mm on the 8 TB). With the heatsink it goes up to 9.76 mm (11.25 mm on the 8 TB): check the free space on your board before buying. The automatic check is below.
Sony asks for an M.2 NVMe SSD with a heatsink. This heatsink model uses the M.2 2280 form factor, but FASE NUEVE does not publish a console compatibility list: check Sony official guide before buying.
Five years of limited manufacturer warranty, or until the TBW limit of your capacity is reached, whichever comes first.
Because we do not have it in stock today. The 8 TB with heatsink is available and appears in the selector.
